The D Factor : Dieters' Dilemma

  • According to an American survey, 67% of college-going women were dieting at least some of the time in contrast to only 25% of men.

    According to another programme, 90% of the people enrolled in a dieting programme were women. Dieting like eating disorders - is apparently also a women's issue.

 

  • According to a study, Americans spent more than $36 billion annually on the diet and exercise industry over a decade ago. This amount is roughly estimated to have doubled by now, though most of these diets are inffective and people regain the lost weight.

  • Weight loss can be dangerous to health. A study showed that coronary problems are more common among people whose weight varies across time, presumably because they lose and gain weight.

    Other research has shown that weight loss is related to low blood pressure, fainting, muscular aches, anemia and headaches.


The D Factor : Dreaded Diarrhea
Diarrheoa is loose, watery stools, people with diarrhoea may pass more than a quart of stool a day. Prolonged diarrhoea persisting for more than two days may be a sign of a more serious problem and poses the risk of dehydration.

Dehydration is particularly dangerous in children and older people, and it must be treated promptly to avoid serious health problems. The causes of diarrhoea may also be a viral or bacterial infection, food poisoning or an inflammatory disease. Or it could be caused by stress, or simply over-indulgence in food or drink.

  • When suffering from acute or extended it is advisable to take a little salt in your drink.

  • Eat boiled sweet potatoes seasoned with salt and pepper before bedtime to cure chronic diarrhoea.

  • Uncooked and raw apples are also good for diarrhea.

  • If you are suffering with vomiting, use lemon and its juice, cut half lemon and suck, you will feel better in vomiting.

  • Dissolve 4 grams of ground cinnamon in 1 cup of warm water cover it for 15 minutes, and drink it like tea, it will help in diarrhoea.
